Reclast and Calcium is dropping

Posted by clj9821 @clj9821, Jun 2 12:45pm

I finished one year of Evenity with great calcium scores and had my first Reclast infusion in February and my serum calcium has dropped to 8.2. Any thoughts? Thank you~ Cynthia

When you say calcium scores are you referring to serum calcium?

clj9821, In order to maintain adequate levels of calcium in the blood so our brains and muscles can function we break down bone and release stored calcium. Reclast prevents the bones from breaking down. Calcium levels are commonly lowered on Reclast. You might need to supplement or raise your dietary intake. At least you know Reclast is working.

@gently Does using the Menostar patch effect the serum calcium score?

REPLY

Yes, usually by reducing serum levels. But the reduction might represent a more positive balance. Estrogen has a an antiresorptive effect on the bones. The numbers will direct remedy, if you need one.

@gently Thanks for your reply. One more question, what do you mean by positive balance?
