Several spine surgeries
Ive had 8 spinal surgeries and this last one back in October of 25 failed and im still having bad issues with sciatica pain ,pelvic pain too and left leg pain down to my knee, I had never had anxiety until this last surgery which failed I have the mri cd that showed the failed fusion,,im on Medicare and medicaid insurance, with humana as a 3rd insurance,,,I go back to the surgeon on the 3rd and was wandering if I should ask for a do over on the last surgery or not and just live with the awful pain, and the legs both swell up all the time now ,they never done that before surgery

rackmaster20, do you know why fusion failed. Have you been on any anabolics. You might consider 4 months of Evenity before the surgery and Forteo or Tymlos immediately after. How many segments was this last fusion.
You can't just live with the awful pain and swelling.

1 ReactionI dont know why it failed and I haven't been on any of that you mentioned all I know is what my surgeon s PA showed me on the CD of my MRI AND IT PLAINLY SHOWS failed area even with the new hardware ,,,see oct 8th2025 was first surgery then stayed 8n hospital skipp a day had second surgery and when I woke from surgery I had burning and pain down my left buttcheek and left leg,and still have to this day we've tried injections wich helped some but ddnt last long attall now im back to the same ole pain and burning feeling again and the anxiety is off the charts again
rickmaster sometimes the our bones aren't strong enough to hold the hardware. Is MRI is indicating that hardware is in place? Does "failed" mean you see a gap between the hardware and the bone or between the two vertebrae?
Do you know what level the injections targeted were they facet or epidural.
The two medication are bone anabolics. Evenity adds bone rapidly. Forteo adds bone at more of a pace. It is known to help integrate hardware in this type of procedure.
Is the surgeon weighing in on what to do about the failed aspect of the surgery. MRIs are difficult to read with hardware (even titanium) causing distortions called "signal voids." Do you have copy of the radiology report.
There is a gap between vertebrae under the hardware and the injection I had done was the caudel epidural it helped but not for long about a month that was all,,should I ask my surgeon for a complete redo on the fusion and hardware
I go see my surgeon Wednesday
