Internal body vibrations upon waking

Posted by hkhindle @hkhindle, Mar 29, 2023

For the last week, I have been waking up with my entire feeling internal vibrations. Very uncomfortable, not pain per se. Having your whole body feel like a buzzer is in your body. I have fibromyalgia. My 1st born son has epilepsy. I don’t have health insurance so my health care is minimal. I’m female, 62. When I was 52, a surgeon took out 80% of my colon without my permission. I was under care for my diverticulitis, but now have hypothyroidism. It’s been impossible for me to lose weight, and this week I’ve lost 5 lbs, I have no appetite. It’s very unsettling because it just keeps going like this until I go to bed.

I woke up just now feeling as though there was an hour earthquake. I live in california so it isnt that strange but its been 20 or so minutes and i still feel it and my muscles in my legs and back feel very fatigued. Its very disorienting i also feel a very warm feeling imtermittanttly. Ive had a history of stroke ischemic, visual cortex, caused by high hematocrit and a total thyroidectomy to treat thyroid cancer for which i take levothyroxin. I also take bp meds lisinopril, htcz, asprin, metoprolol and i take maunjaro for high blood glucose as well as jardiance. No diabetes. I played football through college and for three years after and was cut from my professional team after an injury that made my hands hurt that turned out out to be a burst fracture in c5,and c3tjat the said i had probably accquired years earlier. I am a mess but this is quite out of my normal feelings.and I s kinda freaking me out.

My internal vibrations have been going on since 2019. They wake me up, or they did. It's weird because since getting the nasal cpap I've not had the vibrations. I think they are result of injury to phrenic nerve but my neurologist thinks they have something to do with over active central nervous system.

@carol1024 I have just started this feeling when I wake up. Especially when woke suddenly or napping
I am only 37 years old and healthy all around otherwise. I started to notice it when i was 8 months pregnant and it never went away. I also get blood rushing to my head very easily with just bending down to tie my shoe. I haven’t gone to doctor yet but am not very hopeful considering that you ladies have had it for years and don’t know why

@sasha2647 I have exactly the same happening to me and for about the same length of time. It’s very concerning and I’m tired of worrying about it every single morning when I wake up, until I can get out of bed and start moving around. I try to convince myself it’s a spike in Cortisol but it just feels so unnatural and unsettling. I hope we can eventually find conclusive evidence of the cause and either treat it or find peace with it. Blessings to you.

@justme1821 I’m sorry you’re going thru this. It started happening to me around the same time as this post when I was in my last trimester of pregnancy. I am 37 and healthy otherwise. I get it also when I’m starting to fall asleep not just wake up
I haven’t heard any good news yet on here about it? Or commonalities.

@helene0886
I have not , but I’m not sure it’s linked to my sleep because I slept well and it still was happening.

@jdubious5... sleeping and getting the rest that you require are 2 different things. get a sleep study done.

J, thank you for replying. Online it looks like a dr will diagnose as anxiety, even one article I read today stated, “ the brain can switch this on even directly upon waking”. Well, how in the world do you shut your brain off from this? I’ll keep looking, and hoping it’s just a glitch in my system. Kind regards, H

@hkhindle Try a movement disorder neurologist. They will understand this better than other neurologists. I'm having internal tremors and just saw one last week. He put me on Propranolol. It's supposed to be excellent medicine for tremors, it stops the body's "fight or flight" response by inhibiting adrenaline. That's a non-medical explanation as I understand it. Unfortunately, I had a full body allergic reaction to it, but that's rare. It's supposed to really help. Anyway, God bless you and help you through this. I've been experiencing this for over a year and finally got in with the right type of neurologist. He's also ordered MRI of my brain, neck, and eyes and blood work. I wish you well. I know it's the weirdest feeling ever. I describe it like "1000 bees in my chest," only now it's all over. 😒
