Finger ulcers from Reynauds/CREST/scleroderma

Posted by somanyquestions2 @somanyquestions2, 2 days ago

Hi!
I've just been diagnosed with CREST. I have a stubborn finger ulcer on my 3rd finger that won't heal all the way. It's been 3 months. Nitrobid seems to be keeping it from getting worse but isn't enough to heal it. I've been applying nitrobid at the base between my 2nd and 3rd and 3rd and 4th fingers and half way up both sides of that 3rd finger. I've just learned I'm supposed to go 10 hours a day without the cream or you become immune to it. I started that yesterday. I'm wondering if anyone has any experience and advice with this and if I'm forever immune to the nitrobid now or just starting to wash my hands well and not apply it 10 hrs a day is ok.

Has your doctor ordered an oral medication to relax blood vessels?

Yes, sildenafil. You have to stop the nitrobid 24 hrs before starting. I stopped the nitrobid and started sildenafil but the ulcer got so much worse in 4 days, I was scared to keep going? I read it could take weeks or a month for sidenafil to start to work? So I stopped the sildenafil and started the nitrobid again.
