Have you been told no to hrt if you are 10+ years post menopause?

Starting hrt 10 years post menopause and the flawed Women's health initiative study.
I have been told no and yet the current findings seem to indicate that hrt can still help.

@gravity3 yes I am totally into being our own advocate and researching. My spine is -3.0 and hips -2.5. Have been to rheumatologists, Endocrinologists, gynecologist, my general doctor and they all prescribe a different op drug. My dentist, my cardiologist don't believe in any of the op drugs. I fractured my wrist and metatarsal in 2023 and 2025. Some of those drs classify it as an osteo fracture others don't.
Who could understand this?

Oh my gosh! What a maze of recommendations to sort through and make sense of. Thanks for sharing this information. Have you had a chance to just sit with all of this I put and begin to make sense of it with what you already know about your own body?

@lourdita15

Justin mcclanahan, moderator has just posted some interesting info on assessing op medication risks under the subheading Non fracture members. It may be of interest to you.

@drsuefowler Congratulations! Were you using Menostar alone at the time of an earlier dexa scan? If yes, could you tell me your scores? I'm wondering if Menostar will improve or stabilize my bone health.

@tillymack, I only took Menostar alone for a month, so I don't know how it alone will help your bones. Unfortunately, this is all an experiment. I feel like taking Prolia or Reclast would also be an experiment for those of us who are sensitive.

Old info…and remember, HRT comes in patch forms…2nd opinion time…I heard that GYN docs can help, as they have experience with HRT options…

I was told the same by my gynecologist - her concern I'm
12 years post menopause (62) and she says the risk of stroke or heart attack are more concerned than the side effects of Prolia (what she wants me to take)

@lourdita15 it really depends on very good medical evaluation of the individual.

@lourdita15 I must admit, that in addition to concerns about GI effects, added muscle/back pain— one that concerns me especially is dental problems…as we age, our gums recede, making us quite vulnerable to losing teeth—therefore my concern.
