I have been on blood thinners for the last 20 months following a DVT and bilateral pulmonary embolisms. I too have Factor V Leiden homozygote. In my case I am on Rivaroxaban 20 mg (generic of Xeralto).
Discussing with the dr to reduce dose to 10mg. Trying to weigh the risk of thrombosis vs bleeding.
It seems ultimately it will be my decision which risk to live with. There is some research on the subject but not extensive as far as I can find.

@aycan I don't know if I had answered you previously, but just in case, from my research, it seems like Eliquis has few bleeding risks. It is very expensive, though. It is not a generic yet.

@aycan oh my! PE’s can cause death. Thankfully, we are in the group of survivors. My brother is severely impaired by factor V & it has contributed to a few lifelong complications. He was in study group with the National Blood Clot Alliance about a year ago. I believe you can find more information from that organization.
