Does muscle coordination decrease after going on prednisone for PMR?
Does muscle coordination decline after you start with prednisone - I have been taking it for 6 weeks.

I googled you question and this is the ans I received -
"Coordination problems from corticosteroids like prednisone represent steroid-induced myopathy, which requires immediate dose reduction of approximately 25-33% and consideration of steroid-sparing agents to maintain treatment efficacy while minimizing neuromuscular toxicity. "
My suggestion would be to contact your doctor and ask to see them ASAP based on your side effects. If you can, contact them thru their portal as well. A phone call seems totally appropriate based on your symptoms and the google answer above. Take care and keep us updated.

You didn't mention any specifics with your muscle coordination but it might be helpful to discuss the symptoms with your doctor or rheumatologist to see if they have any suggestions?
Your doctor is your best source of information. I don't know how long it takes, but prednisone can cause muscle loss. Also take into consideration how long you had PMR before it was diagnosed. I had it for several months and by the time it was diagnosed, I couldn't walk without a cane, and I felt very unstable. This didn't go away until after I was on prednisone for a while and got used to walking again.

1 ReactionI’ve been assuming that as I taker off the prednisone many side effects will slowly reverse. I hope I’m not wrong. (I will ask my doc at some point.)
