Where did your pain originate from? Have you had an MRI with contrast?
Was it an injury or illness ?
I’ve been using gabapentin 600mg which is a milder form of Lyrica. Sadly we have no drugs to eliminate nerve pain permanently.
I’m looking for someone that has sacrum pain caused by injury .
I was on Gabapentin 600 mg per day 2-2-4. My PCP took weaned me off if it completely. It was starting to effect my mental ability. I couldn't be happier now that that is gone.
My PCP put me on Ropinirole HCL for restless leg syndrome 2mg before bed, and that has really helped me. It turns out that my neuropathy pain was also due to Restless Leg Syndrome and my sleep has become more restful.
I also suffer from sciatica due to spinal issues that have gradually occurred through bad posture, etc. throughout the years (I am 83). I got an MRI which backed up my conjecture. The pain it causes is asymmetrical in one foot which is the only way my doctor was able to recognize it. It has all the characteristics of diabetic neuropathy which my PCP says must be symmetrical, so it is very often misdiagnosed as neuropathy, but is instead pain the radiates down to my foot from the lumbar region of my back.
I don't want to get in between you and your doctor, but I would do some heavy research surrounding Gabapentin before I got too deep in it.

1 ReactionI am in what they call remission from CIDP for the last 2 1/2 years The only meds I still take is 100 mg of pregabalin in the morning and at night and I take 60 and 30 of Cymbalta during the day (that’s Duloxetine).
Of these make me sleepy or groggy, and I have been relatively low pain threshold for the last two years
I had been taking the maximum daily dosage of gabapentin (3600mg) and was still having pins and needles like pain when walking. My PCP added a daily dose of 60mg Duloxetine and I was able to walk without pain. I was also able to reduce my daily dose of gabapentin to 2700mg. The addition of Duloxetine really made a difference!

1 ReactionTramadol and gabapentin are awful drugs that do little if anything for nerve pain. I agree with the gentlemen that is telling you to do some more deep research before accepting any drugs. I am hoping this next (5th) podiatrist will actually remove the neuromas I have struggling with for 10 years so that I can stop taking icky lyrica and amitriptaline. If I hear another doctor tell me it's PN when it's not symmetrical, it's not coming from my back, I don't have diabetes, and the last podiatrist confirmed I have neuromas (just wouldn't remove them). I will look for a doctor willing to amputate. Side note, I went the 1st ten years without any drugs.
