Going back to your original post, “pain and trouble swallowing” doesn’t seem normal and should probably be checked out.
If your provider thinks you have “stress from a virus”, that should also be checked out in case you need some sort of treatment.
I’m not aware of any connections between mental health issues / taking lithium and thyroid issues but it wouldn’t surprise me since the body has many parts and systems. If one thing is hurting or has a problem the rest try to help out as best as possible.
In one post you said “I’ll just take some meds and eat soft foods until the problem gets better”. What meds are you talking about? I would not make any changes to your medication regime without the input of your provider.
That said, how soon do you follow up with your Mayo endocrinologist? Be sure to bring these symptoms & concerns to his or her attention. You can also use your portal record to show that you have already reached out for help with this. Make sure your labs are up to date and available to your Dr. before your appointment. Hopefully steps will help you get some answers to your concerns.

@cehunt57 thanks for your kind and caring message. Luckily the acute issue has settled down (thankfully - they keep cropping up but then getting better).

In my previous post I was referring to taking OTC pain meds to manage to pain. I still feel like I’m having trouble swallowing but it’s much better.

I think the earliest I can get in for follow up is December, so I have a ways to go, unless I somehow convince them to get the appointment earlier, which as I said, they didn’t seem interested in (I don’t know where they got this viral illness theory - I haven’t been sick with one anytime recently, so it doesn’t make sense why they would assume that).

Anyway I’m definitely keeping track of these episodes for the next time I am able to be seen in clinic.

Again thanks for your kind message and thank you everyone for all of your support!
