Cleveland Clinic Gastroenterologist to help problem solve GI issues
This is a long shot-but is any one familiar with a understanding compassionate Gastrointestinal Doc at the Cleveland Clinic. I'm suffering with unsolved GI symptoms and need a specialist to put the picture together. Any suggestions welcome.

Yes @gulfcoastwoman, I see that as well. I do not find providers specializing in SIBO at Mayo Clinic MN for some reason.
Gulfcoastwoman and @luck1, the Rochester Campus does deal with SIBO. The best way to find more about providers is to contact the Clinic directly and they can help you navigate. If I had to guess (and I am guessing) I suspect they will be able to narrow down options based on your unique situation, providing you a more concise list.
For your specific question my recommendation is to call and have a conversation instead of using the electronic submission option. 507-538-3270
I hope this helps!

I had a call with Mayo Rochester yesterday. At the end of the call the operator informed me that I was not accepted. She said that they didn't want to waste my time or their's. Obviously, I was very disappointed. Any thoughts?

1 Reaction@gulfcoastwoman, it sounds like you’ve taken the appropriate steps to seek care at Mayo Clinic. Unfortunately Mayo Clinic has more requests for appointments than available openings.
There are a few things that you can consider, like getting your doctor to submit the referral for you or consider applying to a different Mayo Clinic location. This doesn't guarantee an appointment. Another option is to consider getting care within the Mayo Clinic Care Network https://www.mayoclinic.org/about-mayo-clinic/care-network
The Mayo Clinic Care Network is a network of member hospitals (https://www.mayoclinic.org/about-mayo-clinic/care-network/members)
The Mayo Clinic Care Network helps keep care local by providing guidance and answers to many questions that might otherwise require a referral to a specialist. In many cases, this spares patients the expense and inconvenience of additional appointments and unnecessary travel. If specialty care is needed, patients can be seen by local providers or referred to Mayo Clinic.

I cannot remember from whom .. but someone in my life mentioned Shands Hospital as good for them. It may not have been this doctor. With my aged brain it could have been years ago or a month ago.

1 ReactionA few years I tried to get into Mayo Clinic. They said they wouldn’t take me either.
I was disappointed since I knew of others around my age who were accepted.
There was no explanation.
Recently someone told me it was possibly because I was on Medicare?
@soup1951
I have Medicare. I also have AARP United Healthcare as my Medicare Supplemental Insurance. The person taking my info couldn’t find that on their list of insurance providers. It’s huge. I thought that was strange.
I have Medicare and Blue Cross Advantage. I live in Mpls near Mayo Clinic in Rochester Minnesota I actually grew up 45 mins away from Mayo and have had medical treatment there when I was younger. We have family that live in Rochester. 5 of our seperate families live there now.
@soup1951 , Mayo Clinic accepts Medicare patients and is one of the largest Medicare providers in the country. Unfortunately, Mayo Clinic can’t honor all new appointment requests they receive from Medicare patients who want to come to Mayo Clinic. All practice areas where there is capacity (appointments available) will accept Medicare patients to accommodate them, and most importantly, as the medical needs of these patients require.
@gulfcoastwoman, you can look up the Insurance Types accepted at Mayo Clinic here: https://www.mayoclinic.org/billing-insurance/insurance/accepted-insurance
For specific details about your coverage, please contact Patient Account Services https://www.mayoclinic.org/billing-insurance/contact-us
