Merkel Cell Carcinoma: I'd like to hear from others

Posted by redneckchic501 @redneckchic501, Feb 9, 2023

I am new here, and just last month my mom was diagnosed with Merkel Cell. She had a large tumor on her face. I am looking for the Merkel Cell group to get more information and hear others stories. I know Merkel Cell Carcinoma is a very rare form of skin cancer, so I know there may not be many in the group. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hey Gang,
A quick update: I completed my 1 year course of OPDIVO after initial stage 3 diagnosis, spread into axilla and supraclavicular lymph nodes from initial site on my forearm, and PET-CT shows all clear still- Thanks, God!
Labs were conducted ahead of the scan, and those reports are largely normal, except it looks like I have a moderate level of anemia now, to go along with the hearing loss experienced. I have my post treatment office call next week to discuss the full treatment results and path forward on the side effects.

Separately, Knee Replacement Recovery is coming along and regaining my flexibility and endurance. Still having to ice the dickens out of it, but better every day.

Hugs to all and thanks for your thoughts and prayers, and please know you all are in my heart!

How wonderful to hear of your successful treatment, Sam. I'd love to hear how your post-treatment appointment goes. Will you post again after your appointment next week?
