Severe pain 4 yrs after hip surgery
So I fell and had emergency hip replacement. But after four’s year I can’t do normal activities for more than 3 hrs and then I can barely walk. It hurts so bad. I go to the gym 3 days a week doung the PT. prescribed routine. Do I need redo surgery? Bcuz it’s not getting better ever

1 Reaction@gravity3 I would consult with your orthopedic surgeon and/or primary, have blood work done to rule out Cobalt / Chroumin. Have an MRI and / or Cat Scan to rule out a loose prosthetic. Stay strong and continue to advocate for yourself until you get an answer to what is causing your pain!

1 Reactionsandrasdad, you might (I would write don't wait to) have the hip reimaged. You may need revision surgery or replacement. You may be damaging precious nerves. Your primary should be able to order the images. Metal Artifact Reduction Sequence (MARS) MRI and CT with 3D reconstruction are the gold standards for detailed diagnostics after hip replacement.

2 Reactions@gentlyiim waiting for my appointment with my surgeon. A redo is most likely coming. As long as I don’t have to work I’m fine. For now

1 Reaction@gravity3 I have. I’m waiting for my appointment in June.
@saundrasdad
Great and good luck.
@saundrasdad just a suggestion! Perhaps your primary could order you some blood work ( Cobalt & Chroumin)
prior to seeing your orthopedic doctor? Just a thought as my wife asked her orthopedic doctor to have this test and he declined saying maybe next year…..I connected with her primary who did order and her levels were toxic. When in pain we need to be heard and I was getting exhausted between work and trying to help my wife! Best of luck
