Hello, can anyone recommend a medication or topical treatment for Non-Diabetic-Peripheral Neuropathy, foot and calf cramps. I get them all day and all night. If you can recommend a Specialist in the Antioch, Northern-Illinois, area too, thank you!

@surayabay24 Not sure about cramps but Voltaren gel works quite well for my painful feet and knees. It might be worth a try?

Lune Cream so far has given best temporary relief.

@pamfitz What kind of CBD do you use? I've never tried it.

@jillb329 Upstate Elevator is the best brand you can buy them online.

I read a post yesterday. The individual tightened the muscles in there legs and held it a few seconds for neuropathy in the feet. Release and repeat. I've been doing this and feel it is making a difference. Maybe it will work to eliminate it. I hope so. So far so good! No drugs, or miracle pills. No herbs or spices. No half an hour video. Just a simple exercise.

@jillb329 I haven’t been asked so I’ll just break in.
I have used CBD for several yrs as my PN pain has increased. It needs to be applied 2 or more times daily do its effects increases and lasts longer, several hours.
Thestronger the better in mg. I wouldn’t waste my money on smaller dose. I use 5000 mg per tube and it

I'm looking at a study online now--says that CBD was ineffective for PN pain, burning, but they only seemed to measure at 50 mg. and I am using 25 mg or so, so you would say that that is entirely too low a dose then? thanks for your reply. Caleb

@jankavs I wasn't a vagan but still I became very B12 deficient. My mother doesn't absorb B12 either so perhaps there's a genetic influence. A routine blood test for B12 made a difference for me as nothing else had been helpful to that date. B12 supplementation arrested the progression of my illness and it even turned it around to some degree.

@pamfitz How much vit B do you take now? Did your dr approve it?

REPLY

Yes, I was taking 600 mcg of vitamin B-12 daily. After some months, my B-12 levels were then at the lower end of the normal range. Still my doc recommended that I increase it so now I am taking 1000 mcg daily. The peripheral neuropathy in my feet has all but disappeared. This may not work for everyone but it can't hurt to have your B-12 levels checked when you go in for routine bloodwork.

I hope you talk with your primary care physician before taking any over the counter medicines.

I have been taking Gabapintin 300mg x 6 daily.( cancer pain relief) for 13 years,
Is it possible that this med is causative to my diagnosis of Neuropathy?
Any supporting documents?
