Orgovyx extreme fatigue side effects

Posted by mikejf @mikejf, Apr 22, 2024

I have been using Orgovyx several years for prostate cancer and am now have in extreme fatigue side effects during the afternoon. I take Orgovyx late morning every day and side effects kick in around 3p.m. I was wondering if I switched to taking Orgovyx at night in stead if side effects during day would be reduced

My dad has only been taking it for a few months. He is exhausted. It is really killing his will to live. He wants to come off it. He is in a clinical trial for two different receptor blockers. His Gleeson score was 4. With stage 4 cancer.
Any advice or thoughts I could give him would be great.

Your dad has only been taking what for A few months?

If he’s in two clinical trials, he must be taking something besides just ADT (Orgovyx).

Is he on Zytiga? That can cause extreme fatigue for some people. There are solutions, but you’ve not mentioned what drugs he’s on.

One thing that helps defeat the fatigue is exercise. Doing weight training and walking or running can make a big difference in the amount of fatigue.

There is no Gleason score below six. Is his a 4+4 or a 3+4. There are always two numbers.

Need to get more information.

You say he’s on a clinical trial what are they doing in those trials? That could be what’s causing the extreme fatigue.

Exercise is a good solution for fatigue from Orgovyx.

I'm in my seventeenth month of Orgovyx. I switched to taking it at night. That perhaps helped a little, but my experience varies daily, with sometimes a killing fatigue after lunch and sometimes more energy than anticipated.

@jeffmarc "One thing that helps defeat the fatigue is exercise."

That sounds like a contradiction, but it's true.

When I went on Lupron 4.5 years ago, the effect was gradual over six months & mostly ignored. I attributed it to just getting older, but kept active, including a house move, so it wasn't a problem. Then two years ago I went off Lupron. Again, the effect was gradual & ignored.

Two months ago I went on Orgovyx. My testosterone dropped from over 600 to 18 in 12 days. Suddenly I felt the "fatigue". However, when I did my normal activities (mowing lawn, 1.5 mile brisk walks, repeatedly going up/down stairs, etc), I noticed no difference at the end. But sitting around, I felt "fatigued," particularly in the evening.

This leads me to believe that the sensation of fatigue is not imaginary, but rather "virtual."

I do notice that hot flashes are more numerous with Orgovyx. With Lupron, it was about once a week. Now, it's a couple times a day. It's annoying but tolerable.

Remember, it's NEVER going to be like it was before. It's "the new you." If you don't adapt, you'll feel miserable.

Again, everyone is different shows up,’ I definitely have fewer hot flashes with Orgovyx.

At least yours aren’t too aggressive, A couple of times a day is definitely manageable.

Sounds like a good routine. I’ve been just alternating elliptical/treadmill and want to include weight lifting. I would be interested in your weight lifting program? Thanks

@readandlearn My experience exactly. Exercise is my new “medicine” for Orgovyx side effects. Really helps.
