Anyone tried Accelera SR 100 device? Or Walkasins?

I have small fiber PN and problems with gait and balance as a result. I recently happened across a Web site with info about Walkasins. I'm just wondering if anyone here has tried this and what results they had? I then came across another device called the Accelera SR 100 that is supposed to help improve balance. ( https://accelera.us/). Again, just wondering if anyone has tried THIS device, perhaps.... and if so, what results you got? I continue to search for some sort of solution for my balance issues related to the PN. Best to all! Mike

I have just purchased the Accelera devices (the purchase price is for a pair.) My reason for wanting to try them is to see if they will help my symptoms from Mal de DeBarquement Syndrome. MdDS is a condition that I contracted from cruising that makes me feel like I’m always on a boat. I don’t have vertigo, I’m just bouncing around as though I’m on the water. It’s like walking on a trampoline, though I’m always bobbing and bouncing whether sitting or in bed. And there’s no medical help in view.

I’ve only been able to try the Accelera devices for a few hours a day. While they haven’t stopped the bouncing, I do feel more stable trying to walk when wearing them. I can actually turn around without feeling like a “wave” has just hit me, causing me to lose my balance.

But the major drawbacks to the devices are the short battery life before needing to charge and the App required to use the devices. The devices must be connected via Bluetooth and only work as long as you keep your phone near them.

The App will ask to scan for every Bluetooth device you use before it will allow you to connect it to your phone. Then, even if you put the devices on “pause,” as long as they are connected to Bluetooth the battery will run down. Not only that, once you connect them to Bluetooth, you can’t disconnect them without turning off Bluetooth for everything!

It’s either the worst App developed for a medical device or the best App developed to tap into a user’s personal data.

@finleybelan Sorry I can't help with your use of the Accelera. And I only got to try the Walkasins briefly and am still appealing with insurance to help with them. I've never heard of MdDS, but it sounds quite daunting to live with. Do you use a cane or any sort of orthotics to try and help with this? Best wishes! Mike

Thanks for your reply. Yes MdDS is to say the least a daunting challenge. I use a little mobility scooter to run errands around my neighborhood and a walker to put in the car for other places. It has been getting worse to the point where doing household chores and personal hygiene tasks are becoming more difficult. If you can imagine living on a trampoline that is being bounced by someone else as you’re trying to go about your day, you might have some idea what it’s like. Just trying to get out of bed is a challenge. LoL And there’s no help for it.

I recently purchased Accelera Propio And have been wearing them for 75 days.
I am seeing improved gait and confidence, also my drop foot condition has improved,
also my tendency to fall backwards has improved. No major improvements in balance yet.
I am age 95 male. Non painful neuropathy for 14+ years. Cant walk or stand . Use scooter for mobility and a walker in the house. Cancer 3 times, Chemo twice. Take Nerve Renew products
and go to gym frequently. This is my first posting. LEO

@leolink Glad to hear the Accelera Proprio is helping you to see improvement in your gait and in your overall confidence when walking. If you're dealing with this and still moving at 95, you are an inspiration to me at 75, and many others, I'm sure! Keep moving!! And please keep posting!! Are you a veteran, by chance?? Best wishes!
