@rutgersmom123 May I ask if you have seronegative rheumatoid arthritis? Are you seeing a rheumatologist for treatment?
Sometimes it takes a few tries to find a doc who accepts that about 20% of RA is sero-negative and treats it. I have had symptoms for about 20 years and self-managed until 2025, but finally my body would no longer tolerate NSAID's. My pulmonologist, of all people, sent me to a wonderful rheumatologist, and we are still working on getting the beast under control.

I also have thyroid disease. Started as hyperthyroidism killed it went hypothyroidism. So the fatigue from both RA and that is unreal.

Many are sero negative. I was for 7 years until A new Rheumatologist did the test to prove my arthritis was osteo. Surprised both of us that it was positive. So it can be negative and it can also change.

I was diagnosed with PMR 2.5 years ago. Rheumatologist started me on Prednisone. I tapered down to 0 in 14 months and my hands swelled up and hurt so bad I couldn't make a fist. My grip strength was down to 15 pounds. Blood test were all normal. Rheumatologist said I was having a relapse and put me back on Prednisone. Grip strength up to 60 lbs. Tapered down to zero and hands reacted the same way. Doc said she thinks I have sero negative rheumatoid arthritis and put me on Methotrexate and Naproxen. After six weeks hands still swollen, but a little less pain. I also developed a rash on my wrist. Have had skin problems approx 10 years ago and not much since. Not doc is testing for psoriatiac arthritis and added hydroxychloroquine. I'm a 62 year old female retired police officer.

I also had skin rash all over my body in response to methotrexate in addition to brain fog and fatigue. More advanced biologics like adalimumab (Humira), tocilizumab (Actemra), and Rituximab may work better. You may want to check with your doctor. Now cheaper biosimilars for these drugs are also available and are covered by insurances.

My RA factor has been negative, but an elevated CCP, positive ANA and clinical symptoms (obvious joint damage to my right hand) led to a diagnosis of RA. Due to other clinical symptoms I've also been diagnosed with Sjogren's.

I have seronegative RA, as well as seronegative Sjogren's. I am on Simponi monthly injections and hydroxychloroquine.

I am zero-negative RA, sero-negative Sjogren’s, Raynaud’s and Behcet’s. It’s quite an autoimmune cocktail to live with. I also have CHIP and can’t seem to keep hemoglobin. Headed to Mayo on Saturday. Hoping to get some new insights.

You know, this whole autoimmune thing is a mystery. I started getting issues right after I was sick with meningitis . I have since read that a viral infection can kickstart autoimmune disease. Since then, I have aded several autoimmune diseases. I have been on many medications including biologics for quite a few years. My doctor is now thinking about doing immunoglobulin therapy. I am not sure what to do as I am not feeling too bad. I am currently on Rasuvo once a week and taking Tylenol and using prescription topicals for rashes. I feel reasonably well enough. Will have to think about this.
Have a good day all.
