Specialists for complex eye injuries

Posted by namayanja @namayanja, May 8 10:31am

I had a serious eye injury last fall and have undergone several procedures to put it back together. This has involved a procedure to remove blood after a choroidal hemorrhage and two vitrectomies for a detached retina.
I’m still left with a macular hole and ongoing issues with mild iritis.
I’m now looking for a second opinion on other possible treatment going forward.
Does anyone know who the best specialists are to deal with complex eye injuries? As well as skill and expertise I’m looking for a doctor/doctors who are excellent communicators and take the approach that they’re dealing with a whole person, not just a series of eye parts.

Where do you live? If you are close to Philadelphia, Wills Eye Hospital is the best. They come for all over for treatment.

@mikaylar thank you. Do you have experience with them yourself? Or know anyone who does?

My retina doctor does surgery and teaches there. I used to take my Mother there many years ago for treatment. Where do you live?

@mikaylar that’s interesting. I’d love to know more about your doctor. What’s his name?

His name is Omesh P. Gupta, MD,MBA. I treat with him in one of his offices outside of Philly called Mid-Atlantic Retina. May I ask your eye condition? Wills Eye Hospital treats everything. It would be worth your trip if you can afford it.

I wrote about my condition in my first post. 😉

I’d be interested in talking to you more about your experience with Dr Gupta and Will Hospital in general. I’m not sure how to arrange that. Are you willing to share contact info on this platform?
