Will my MRI breast biospy be done with contrast?
I am 64 and post menopause. I started with a unilateral clear spontaneous nipple discharge several months ago, mri noted a 2.6 cm linear enhancement. I will have mri biospy in a few days and am wondering if contrast will be used again. I checked my patient portal and called the coordinator but am finding no answers.

Thank you! Hope you are doing well.

I just read online about the vacuum assisted, no one told me that. Thank you

My non mass enhancement is a linear 2.6 cm with type 2 kinetics. I am 64 and my mom and her mom had breast cancer. With the one side clear nipple discharge it could be a papilloma or dcis, but I keep reading papillomas are usually smaller, Any thoughts?
It is done, about a week for the results. My last biopsy the radlogistist told me before I left it was most likely benign and she was right. I asked this time and she would only say that the area she biopsied was causing the discharge, so hopefully a papilloma. I was given three mumbing shots, 2 of the three really hurt! Overall it went well, but I am a bleeder and had to stay a good 30 minutes to slow it down. They ended up compression wrappping my breast, skipping the sports bra. I have to say my mammogram guided biopsy a few years ago was easy, only thing I felt was the pinch of the numbing needle. Tech told me with the lesion being behind the nipple the nerves in that area are what made it feel worse.
Double post
Sorry, you have probably had your MRI and it will or would have been with contrast.
Because my DCIS was only detected with an MRI, I have a mammogram and six months later MRI.
@beyourownadvocate Thank you. Yes I had the mri biopsy with contrast, my area of concern due to the one sided nipple discharge was not found on diagnostic mammogram or ultrasound which led to mri and mri biopsy. Still waiting for results. I am 64 with family history, so who knows? Are you having any treatment?
I did have a lumpectomy, radiation and five years or aromatase inhibitors (Anastrozole).
I ended my treatment in December.
I still see my doctor every six months with a mammogram and six months later an MRI.
I’d like to think I am done with cancer but you always need to be vigilant.

Best wishes to you! I hope mine is low grade if its not benign. My mom and grandmother had agressive cancers that required chemo and radiation. Mom did well but has some nerve damage. Grandmother had recurrence the same year and passed away soon after.
@jeaniem
I’m sorry to hear that.
Maternal and paternal aunts in my family died from breast cancer.
My older sister had breast cancer in 2003. I was diagnosed with the same type - in the same location- in 2020.
We both had surgery, radiation and Anastrozole.
So far we’re both cancer free!
That’s my hope for you!
