@easmith
Hi, welcome !
I did the same, got as prepared as I could.
That definitely helped me.
I took toiletries to the hospital and yes as mamajite said, comfy sweat pants, loose waist and easy zip on off shirt, I chose a button up… as well a knee length zip up robe to walk the hospital hallway without that “ rear view breeze “ ….
The one thing I wished I had in the hospital was throat lozenges as I had the usual sore throat post surgery.
A small pillow for the ride home to cushion your side from pot holes and if you need to cough or sneeze, hugging that pillow makes a big difference.
I also found having extra bed pillows helpful, under my legs and at my sides especially the first few days.
Once home, I found a recliner was and still is most comfortable to sleep in as laying down flat is uncomfortable and not conducive to sleep for me.
I have an older recliner, a manual handle to recline back and such, so my husband has been doing that for me.
I also prepared food, freezing up serving sizes of chili, soup, quinoa… etc… so easy to just defrost.
And, stool softener … meds can be constipating.
If I think of anything else, I’ll let you know…
Thank you, yes my recovery is still going smoothly …
Sending you positive thoughts for your surgery 😊
@daisydays Thank you!! It’s so helpful to hear about other’s experiences. I didn’t think about lozenges and stool softeners (for home) but it’s nice to have those things on hand when needed.
