Male with neurogenic bladder: what are my options?

I’ve been diagnosed with a neurogenic bladder. I’ve been presented two options one self catheterization and the second supra surgery. I’m frightened of the whole situation. Who has experience with these two options?

@2will2 I share your misgivings about self self catheterization. I am aware that many people do it successfully, but I still can’t imagine carrying all the supplies doing it while traveling, especially with bathrooms in unsanitary places. I am in Indonesia on our way to Thailand very happy to be using a valve.

Thank you for taking the time to reply while you were on a cruise. May I ask how old ? Also, how long have you been using the valve I saw my urologist yesterday and he’s gonna let me try using the catheter valve. The next time I go have my catheter changed in four weeks. This is all very new to me. Can you give me any for suggestions? Things that I should be aware of it before I start. Had a catheter right now in me for a number of months so I’m used to having something in my penis. That is become like a part of my life. It’s just hard for me to think that it’s gonna be a part of my life for the rest of my life. But we always do not know what lies ahead for us. And again, I thank you for your replying again.
