Mayo Phoenix: Any chances of getting an open slot for MRI sooner?

Posted by jessicaop @jessicaop, 1 day ago

Looking to see if anyone has managed to get their MRI appt moved up from cancellations? Was told they do not have a waitlist. Anyone try calling or best bet for timing to call?

@jessicaop, I'm tagging a few Mayo Phoenix patients like @grammato3 @tomrennie @danab who may have some tips for you.

Jessica, have you sent a message to your care team through the patient portal to let them know that you would like an earlier MRI appointment?

@jessicaop: I have called the scheduling department to inquire about earlier appointments and have been successful. This is different from a waitlist as it's true the imaging department does not keep those types of lists, but you can definitely try calling general scheduling who can put you in touch with radiology to check for cancellations. It might also help if you can be flexible between the Phoenix or Scottsdale campus; additionally, if you need a musculoskelatal eval through orthopedic/sports med referral, it's possible you could have this done at the Tempe location. Let me know if this works for you.

@grammato3 so I actually ended up calling this morning and managed to score an appt tomorrow! A month early but what did help was I called my insurance first to see if I needed pre authorization or not and if I did, if they could help expedite it. But for my purposes, I did not.
