Rectocele repair
Just discovered I have a rectocele! My undercarriage was destroyed by 3 huge babies, age and a fat belly. Now leaks and even just plain dam bursts uncontrolled. Now this! Anyone had bladder and rectocele repair done? Painful? How long did it take to recover? Suggestions/ hints???

Yes I had the repair done in 2022. I have never regretted it! It takes about 6 weeks to recover and no lifting anymore over 25 lbs.

1 ReactionFrom what I’ve read. In my case the muscles of the vagina that support the rectum beside it, are so weak, the rectum pops into that weakened area and makes a hernia ( bulge) into the vaginal space. Creating a pocket in the bowel that can trap stool. Looks like they need to stitch up the vaginal muscle to strengthen that area to again support the rectum. As for the leaky bladder? I believe they put some kind of net in to support the bladder. Not sure it has anything to do with uterus, but everyone is different and it all depends on your individual anatomy. Going to see Doctor this week to see what’s up with my saggy undercarriage and what the plan is. Good luck🤗

3 Reactions@lacy2 I had an emergency hysterectomy right after my last childbirth. 30 years later I had the repair. My doctor never mentioned that to me. All I know is this is my experience. Hope all works out for your friend.

2 Reactions....friend has been in agony waiting for surgery her particular situation and theyput catheter in bladder but because of the bulging bowel from vagina the cathetr is painful and keeps leeking.. she is a strong person but this is really getting to her been months and months and waiting for a specialist out of town for operation but they are booked solid.... even painful to sit. Hers is worse than the also panful/horrible sitution I dont know why. This is why it is beneficial to live in a large City rather than a small Town re super specialists so now her fam. dr. trying to get her into a hospital 4 hrs away but they are also swamped.

2 ReactionsSo sorry for your friend. I am lucky to have no pain. We did it love in a very rural area, but a bit out and yes much harder to find care when you are farther from the “big” city. Prayers for her and hope all goes well.

2 Reactions...thanks ... i am used to illness over manyyears but she has been relatively well except for gillianbarre and usual things... not easy with about five inches of bowel protruding out of vagina... and its been horrible for months and months... verfy difficult to both in our 8Os... !!! and the catheter they put in while waiting for op. keeps leeking... honestly it seems so much more diffiuclt dealing with issues when older but also difficult to deal with when raising family and working isnt it. Years ago the therapist i was seeing for depression said re illness, he said there are so many illnesses etc we "could" have, its amazing we are are still all walking around... tryng to inject some humour into the situation but when I see on tv etc children born with grave illness and face a lifetime, long or short, sufering, I am thankful ... only thing i had stsarting age 12 very painful migraines with aura... sorry to go on, i am a chatty cathy! Wishing everyone some help with their issues, this is such a great place to allow us to exchange info and idea and help! J, Canada
