Anyone had Gemzar (gemcitabine) to treat soft tissue sarcoma?

Interesting, I would also like to know more about it.

Roger, has Gemzar been recommended as a treatment for you?

No it has not been recommended for me at Mayo, I read about it online as a possible treatment for soft tissue sarcoma. MD Anderson was using it for some STS trail cases.

I have metastatic Leomyosarcoma in my lungs, abdomen bones, pancreas, and it looks like liver will be joining the party.
My oncologist convinced me to try Gemzar And for me, it was a total nightmare. Everyone reacts differently To chemo and I was willing to try it . My Biggest concern was the pancreas since it basically blows up your whole digestive system and was why I was willing to try chemo. Just got back my first scan post chemo and the tumor in my pancreas is still growing, so no success yet.. I was very sick the whole time and my oncologist said I could try Increasing the dosage or trying another chemo or even Radiation.
After five years of this, I’m taking a six week break! The purpose is to give myself some mental space to think about my next steps. I’m talking to palliative care at the hospital, my oncologist and hospice. It’s a very individual decision that everyone needs to make for themselves. I based mine on quality of life, meaning for me to be able to do some simple things that I love.
