Transdermal magnesium cream/lotion/ointment for peripheral neuropathy

Posted by bigjohnscho @bigjohnscho, Apr 20, 2025

I am researching the use of transdermal magnesium ointment for treatment of peripheral neuropathy pain. Has anyone had success with using this. There are several brands on the market but I don’t know which is the best form of magnesium , which is the most absorbable etc. P lease reply if you have experience of using this.

I’m using Voltaren cream on my feet at night. It seems to help. Ibuprofen is still my go-to best relief.

Ibuprofen helps, so does Voltaren, but I'm having best results by taking CBD 100 oil 0.5mls at night combined with Pregabalin 300 mg which stop night pain attacks waking me.

Yes! R-ALA and aceytl-l-carnitine was one of the first supplements I used...and I still do. I take PEA. I've also started using boswellia and turmeric. I take naproxen for the pain..3 a day. I'm not going to take gabapentin or the other drugs most doctors recommend. The podiatrist said there was a compounded cream she could prescribe. She said it was expensive and I don't think insurance covers it. I might try that.

@suzva I had plantar release and it didn't work. I have done everything from Physical Therapy, steroid lotions and creams. When nothing helped my feet he sent me to a rheumatologist who started me on a combo of gabapentin and Dulexotine. It helped immensely. However my blood work didn't show any inflammatory markers and after 2 years I'm having memory loss due to gabapentin and studies show it is linked to dementia. I'm really looking for help! Went to a new podiatrist and started from scratch. The injections didn't work so now I'm going to a neurologist to see if there are any pinched nerves.

@dibbsy1000 I'm not willing to do CBD. I hope this helps others who can take it.

Anyone have any help in taking B12 injections for neuropathy ?I take pantarozole for my gut which kills the acid in my stomach and most medications if taking Close together.
As I have been reading the B12 by pill was not getting out of my stomach to be of any use with my neuropathy so am now getting an injection once a month.
My Dr says my levels of B12 are normal but I have read that as you get older you need more B 12. I asked to try the injections , have had 2 so far with no noticeable difference

Not sure if I am to late as my feet feel sort of a sleep and clumsy but I have no pain
Love to hear of anything that helps
