Gabapentin dosing
I’ve been taking my Gabapentin 200mg am then when the pain comes back I take another 100 mg and so on. At night before bed I’ll take 200 mg. Never more than 800mg total a day. I don’t seem to have good pain control throughout the day as it keeps rearing its ugly head throughout then I have to tamp it down with another 100 mg. I was given this instruction as needed.
Can you share the dosages you take and how you dose it and does it seem control the pain continuously all day or do you continually have to chase the pain like I do?

I finally read the Arthritis strength-Tylenol label. It says Extended Relief and recommends taking 2 tabs every 8 hours. I find this gives me greater pain relief - during all my waking hours.
Sometimes reading the instructions can be helpful!

1 Reaction@ieeeee all that being said do you keep narcan nearby. Tramadol and Gabapentin it's not a good mix.
@2gmate
I took them together no issues. Also currently taking Tramadol with Lyrica/Pregabalin and no issues tho it's generally recommended to be careful when/if both of those are taken with Tramadol.
I took 3,600 mg of gabapentin when I was on the fentanyl patch. I had no problems..
Some people have problems some don't. The gabapentin never helped my neuropathy nor my seizures..

I wouldn't take gabapentin on an as needed basis. Gabapentin is an anticonvulsant drug and needs to build up in your bloodstream to a therapeutic level. Scientist and researchers have found that many patients are being under dosed, which is why it doesn't work for so many.
Have you tried a higher dosage taken consistently?
Take care,

I take 600 mg of Gabapentin in the morning and at night. Helps me tremendously. Still have light pain and sometimes feet and calf cramps sometimes at night while sleeping, but not too often. I found that drinking 48 to 64 ounces of water daily helps a lot. Good luck to you. It’s an awful disease.
I am on 600 mg of gabapentin, three times a day. Not sure if it's really helping my PN. I am feeling dizzy and foggy-headed most of the time. Plus, I feel nauseous some time, Have any of you had these experienced similar symptoms while on higher doses of gabapentin?
@heisenberg34 My gabapentin dosing peaked at 2400mg a day (4x600mg) . Since starting R Alpha Lipoic Acid (600mg at night) about 15 weeks ago, I have decreased my gabapentin dose to 900mg a day (3x300mg).
Gabapentin causes me foggy brain and loss of balance. Both are much decreased with the lower dose. I am trying to decrease my dosing further.
@cleveland26 Did you ever experience any nervous twitching? I am having that problem especially when I am reclining and holding things in my hands.
@heisenberg34 Yes, sometimes I do get leg twitching when I wake up, lay in bed for a few minutes, but before I stand up. But it does not last long. More rarely, I get leg twitching before I fall asleep, but it does not last long, again maybe a few minutes.
