Redundant colon and surgery?

Redundant Colon resulting in twist in sigmoid
I had an emergency sigmoidoscopy in October 2021 and further tests indicated a redundant colon. My consultant wanted me to get a bowel resection. To date I've avoided this and am trying to manage my diet. I am also on daily Laxido (a type of laxative that takes water into the bowel). I drink a lot of water and am very fit. I am trying to manage the problems of the redundant colon in order to avoid another incident. My diet is one option but some people have suggested acupuncture and I'm very interested in any feed back on this. I am also interested in know if a colonic irrigation would be safe and could help - my thoughts being it may clear out any old build up. Any help would be welcomed. I am a 58 year old healthy female weighing 65 kilos.

Hi lapxp,

My protocol is always evolving. Hence the update.

I have made one fruitful change -- I take a small dose of the gentle Osmotic laxative Hilma WITH EVERY MEAL (and I eat 5-6 light meals). Instead of two Hilma capsules at night.

I put the powderinto smaller capsules.

Any Mag Citrate powder or capsule product other than Hilma, you could do the same thing, hopefully with a great result. Everybody's gut is different, but "with each meal," for my IBS-C/Redundant Colon, it is a game changer!

Hi
I have lived with chronic constipation for 20 years which led to feacal compaction nemerous times. It wasn't until I had a painful colonoscopy that I found out I had a redundant colon.
I was prescribed Soduim Picolsphate 5 to 10 mg daily. I havn't been hospitalised for a year until 3 days ago. Xray showed no twists or obstruction in the bowel but part compacted in the sigmoid colon. After taking enemas and upping the dose of SP, my overflow is still present. And I am on the 6th day of overflow. Any suggestions of what else I can take? I have been taking lactulose, hope it will break it down.
