Similar situation for me I had afb for 3 years my doctor never send me to a cardiologist. I went to an amazing Cardiologist Dr. Jody Ritter he was a life saver. Change insurance I had ablations plus a watchman.
I don't want to take blood thinners for life. Hopefully I will stop taking blood thinners in the near future. You must get a second opinion ask questions a must long term medication side affects. I trusted my doctor of 14 years I went to the hospital 25 because it was HMO. Could not got to any doctor.
Wishing the best

@veronica0127 hi, you sent me a hug and helpful comment earlier. Thank you. It sounds pretty much like what happened to me. A cardiologist who couldn’t or wouldn’t take the time to diagnose my problem for about 12 years. Since finding out I had Afib and Aflutter, getting a pacemaker and eventually an ablation, I seem to have settled in with Eliquis and Metoprolol. Many in this site did not seem to think I should not be on the metoprolol anymore but my heart will still beat alarmingly fast sometimes, not an arrhythmia anymore. I will ask the new cardiologist about it next time I see him in June. The new cardiologist just discovered that I also have coronary artery disease and put me on wegovy to lose weight. Yesterday I just got told I have non small cell carcinoma of my left lung. I’m feeling pretty overwhelmed now but I pray for you that with all the wonderful treatments that are available now that you will get through this.
