Studies on Covid 19 vaccine causing PMR

Anyone familiar with ongoing studies on the COVID-19 vaccine as a possible cause of PMR?
I understand there are such studies.
Since one possible cause of PMR is believed to be a viral infection, could you trigger one by getting a vaccination? The many vaccine skeptics certainly warned us about possibilities like this.

No one knows the cause of PMR. Viruses are suspected of being capable of triggering an immune response that can cause other disorders. Our immune system needs a trigger before it can short circuit and work against us. Maybe the trigger for PMR is a virus, maybe it's a vaccine, maybe it's traumatic stress or maybe it's the way our immune system ages. No one knows. Our symptoms and pain levels vary from person to person, so why should we expect the same cause?

As you posted this I’m reflecting over these last few years. I retired in 2019, watch Covid ravage our world & in 2022 left the south 😞 to move closer to daughter in the Midwest 🙄. Then in spring/summer of 2023 got sick w/2 stomach viruses & 2 bouts of diarrhea all w/in 6 mo!! I’ve never been sick like that. EVER. Was always proudly healthy! Folks here said it was new grandbaby bringing me new germs from her play time at the Y. (I worked at a library before retirement & never ever got sick (maybe a cold every 4/5 yrs? there are PLENTY of germs in the public library.) Anyway things calmed down in 2024 till end of that year when PMR struck.
Maybe stress of a move by myself to a really new area at the tender age 69/70? & new germs? The vaccines?
You’re right who knows.
Just face forward.

Exactly! We have PMR. Maybe it's the result of a perfect storm of virus, stress and age. No matter how we got it, we have to deal with it and move forward.

@kjoed53 I would add a fourth factor. None of us is the body you find in an anatomy book. Each body is unique from birth in many ways. As you age you find out how true this is. A physician is not a diagnostic machine you put on your car, nor is your body that car, and that's the challenge of diagnosis and treatment. E.g. hair loss can be from body temperature, so hair loss can start with PMR , as mine did, not from starting prednisone . "Chicken or the egg?"

So agree! My family has a genetic predisposition (HLA D4) to many types of autoimmune diseases such as Type 1 Diabetes, celiac disease, Sjogrens , and PMR. We can pinpoint viral illness about 6 months prior to Type 1 dx in two family members. My trigger for PMR seems to be stress. Not one answer for all cases
