Tongue cancer possible
What does a white gray tongue mean? My PCP says its thrush but I dont see it getting better with taking nystayin rinse. I also have chronic dry mouth at night which at times its unbearable. I'm worried I have tongue cancer. Does anyone have these symptoms,?

2 ReactionsI have had several bouts of oral thrush in just 3 years from tongue cancer. Taking nystatin clears it up within a couple of weeks. This is the new norm?
@zenren14 I was told i got thrush from dry mouth. I have chronic dry mouth. I'm taking nystatin and started Diflucan. Its been a little over a week. Its taking so long to get rid of it. i had it a few years ago from antibiotics. I cant take it anymore. Thank you. Take care.

1 ReactionThank you all for sharing your experiences. Tongue cancer is clearly not to be taken lightly. I had a biopsy come back epithelial dysplasia, moderate level on right side of tongue. Pathology says because its moderate level and in a high risk location it should be treated again with either a wide excision or CO2 laser. Dr said I could do the watch and follow carefully method. I’m all for that; however I am seeking a second opinion with an ENT, who was referred to me by an acquaintance who is currently getting chemo for his tongue cancer; he says don’t wait. His cancer unfortunately had already spread to lungs when they found it. Thanks for listening and have a wonderful Good Friday. ✝️

1 Reaction@bdsis you too have a nice Good Friday. Take care.

I had what looked like thrush after radiation treatment. After 4weeks of diflucan and my Mycelex it did not clear up. The ENT said it wasn’t thrush but radiation damage. He gave me a rinse made up of Keflex, Benadryl, Nystatin, and Dexamethosone steroid. It took a bit but it worked. Everyone else at oncology office was stumped.

Hi
Cancer Oral Surgeon prescribed me a bottle of Peridex. I was profusely using it daily for 2 weeks. It was pricey so I stopped. They said adding salt to lukewarm water should be as effective. So, far so good.

2 Reactions@zenren14 Thank you; did get in with his ENT for a second opinion, after I do the follow up I’m scheduled for on 21st. This problem is minor compared to what so many are going through now but because I have heard so much I don’t want to make the wrong decision and end up having it be worse. I’ll be honest, I’ve had cancer (metastatic melanoma) before, and lymph node removal because of it, but I have trouble thinking of a more unpleasant experience than having even that one chunk removed from my tongue. Stitches came out by the time I got home, had to go back and restitched, was never completely numbed up. The second stitches were “braided” and supposed to be ones that could stay for 30 days but they too came open by that evening. So the gaping hole was there healing for almost a month. Blessings to all of you. 💕🙏🏻✝️
@bdsis
oh no, tongue stitches sound rough.
