@thirdchanceliver I had a liver transplant when I was 54- 4 years ago- after an acute autoimmune situation. I was and am in otherwise good health. I think the experience of a transplant at any age is exhausting and here you have had more than one transplant. Less than a year after my transplant I was impatient, motivated and returned to work slowly but decidedly which in retrospect was a mistake. I rushed returning to life by working but I now wish I waited. I say that but also I am doing well, I have returned to full time work as a social worker on an outreach team.

When I look back I understand the importance of giving ourselves time and grace. I encourage you to consider all your body and mind have gone through and allow for time to do its magical thing. You are young to experience such an upheaval. Currently, I still work full time, I love my work and my lovely patients but I have less energy post work than I wish I did- maybe because I pressured myself to do too much, too quickly. It’s hard to know how to seize the moments when you are newly well again. I say, slow and steady wins here. In time you’ll get more energy back and I encourage you to build on it slowly and steadily.
