High testosterone and estradiol after starting HRT

Posted by jpage2022 @jpage2022, 2 days ago

Hi, I'm 46 and post menopausal, I had a partial hysterectomy 2 years ago. Dr. said my ovaries looked great at the time.
So I had my first round of labs after starting HRT in January. My testosterone and estradiol are extremely high, testosterone is 1500 ngdL, and estradiol 2392. I take a
hormone Troche: Testosterone 3mg/BI-Est 2.25mg/Progesterone 75mg/Pregnenolone 8mg. And 100mg oral progesterone.
I'm also on tirzepatide that I know can affect the oral progesterone.
I have my follow with Dr. next week. I'm just curious if anyone else has had this happen. I felt great at first, but lately have been exhausted, irritable, and breast tenderness with lumps like when I would have my periods in my younger years.

Hi,
Thank you for posting this. Question: did your prescriber take your labs before prescribing the hormones? Neither of my doctors check my lab work and now I’m concerned about that.
Thank you,
Carol

Hi,
I'm so sorry that you are going through all of this! You are probably reacting to the hormone replacement therapy and how it works with other things you are taking. I'm currently 79 but went through menopause at age 48. I reacted terribly to hormone replacement therapy and ended up in the emergency room. I quit taking the hormone pills and just went through menopause the old fashioned way with no medication except over the counter medication for headaches etc. I ate healthy and got plenty of rest and actually did quite fine. I had some side effects such as my straight hair going curly in the back, a little weight gain and sometimes my hands would shake. Also at age 79 my hair has never turned gray! It remains blonde. What really helped me was drinking either Gatorade or orange juice and also drinking lots of water. I did get to the point that I could no longer tolerate coffee or carbonated drinks like cola's or any kind of pop. I still can't. I just drink juice, tea and water.

Prayer also helped me through menopause. God is there for us. I'll say a prayer for you. By the way, Happy Easter!
I wish you the best.
