@nova69 Welcome to Mayo Clinic Connect and to the Women's Health Support Group. I am 74-years-old and had many instances of bacterial vaginitis during my life. When I entered the post-menopausal period I developed vaginal atrophy which I'm told by my medical providers is common. I used an estradiol vaginal cream for several years and it was very helpful.

Did your urogynecologist diagnose Desquamative Inflammatory Vaginitis (DIV? I was unfamiliar with this diagnosis so I looked it up. For anyone else reading this post here is what I found:

Cleveland Clinic: Desquamative Inflammatory Vaginitis:

While your regular gynecologist could be helpful I'm wondering if there is a specialty clinic you could visit. I have worked with the the Menopause and Women's Sexual Health Clinic at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. I've consulted there with providers such as nurse educators, nurse practitioners, and sex therapist (licensed psychologist who specializes in sexual issues). This team approach was and has been so very helpful to me.

Is there a similar women's sexual health and menopause speciality clinic near you? Sometimes this speciality clinics are located in academic medical centers. You might need a referral from your primary care provider or gynecologist.
