Immunologist

Has anyone seen an immunologist as well as a rheumotologist? I am contemplating seeing one. Just curious to see if anyone has seen one and has gotten results from it.

Hello @lisabeans, I clicked on the small search icon at the top of the screen next to the mail icon and did a search for the term immunologist. It brought up a list of posts including yours at the top of the list. You might want to look through the list to see if any help you. Hopefully some others will jump in and provide their experiences. I use the search function when I'm looking for some specific information. Can you share why you are contemplating seeing an immunologist?

Thanks John. I jave had indiagnosed auto immune issues for a few years now. I also have ulcerative colitis (in remission) and vertigo. Doctors say I am prone to ai issues but no one has a clue as to why. I just want answers.

I would want answers too. There are so many autoimmune related health issues that I'm sure it's not easy to get to the bottom of what's going on. There is a good video that might be worth watching that fits your situation:

@lisabeans - Someone I know has seen a rheumatologist for 13 years and all her needs have been met. It's been 13 years since the diagnosis of Ankylosing Spondylitis so I don't recall the specifics but I do know that all of the blood work they did came back inconclusive. It is my understanding that most rheumatological diagnosis are done by exclusion and the doctor can not rely on blood work results. Best of luck in your search for answers. Don't give up!

@lisabeans - Did you ever see an immunologist? I have been told my daughter is more likely to get other immune issues (i.e. Inflammatory Bowel Disease) and I always thought it was because her medication to manage her AS is immunosuppressive so she is more susceptible to getting other illnesses (i.e. cancer). Maybe I'm wrong so I'm curious if you learned anything.
