Reclast or zoledronic acid
Hi
I just had my 3rd infusion 3 weeks ago of zoledronic acid.
It's been a nightmare. 5 days in stomach pain severe. Ended up in emerg. Bad gastritis, been having vertigo , nausea , anxiety my sodium was extremely low. Fatigue. It's been so difficult I will not do this again. Add the radiation fatigue bot fun

1 ReactionDo you mean, make sure you ARE hydrated before the infusion?
Thanks for noticing my error! Yes, make sure you are well hydrated before an infusion.
@vgen hydrate day before, day of, day after (or 2-3 days).
See if you can have a slower infusion- over an hour's time (MD might have to order)
Tylenol the day of, before the infusion, at bedtime and as needed.
I had a fever for 5 days, no biggie. Even though I did all of the above. It was fine. I get fevers with vaccines too.

1 ReactionGoing through this right now! Miserable. Never, ever again. SO sick like a roller coaster. One minute I’m fine. Then my stomach is killing me. Only have had an appetite twice in 8 days since getting this first infusion! I have like 20 side effects on and off at all different times of day on different days. I feel better, more like myself, get hopes up that I am getting out of this hell, and then back to feeling sick again, horrible! Feel like I ingested poison. Don’t do it!
And I was st the ER too the very next day! Stepped out of bed at 10 am and had vertigo, fell into the wall, blacking out, couldn’t see. Left cellphone above my head in bed, panicking that husband was going to find me passed out on the floor 5 hours later in our living room. Made it to bathroom where I had dry heaves twice. Stomach was so upset! Never ever ever again.
This was my 1 and done by the way!

Hi
Sorry to hear that you're having such a rough go. May I ask what you did previously the day before in the morning of your infusion. I know it's very very important to really hydrate the day before so drinking electrolyte drinks and taking Tylenol two before bed and in the morning another electrolyte drink and one Tylenol. That's what works for me and I've been getting them for 5 years now and not having an issue
@sue417 my rheumatologist didn’t tell me anything other than to take calcium and vitamin d after she told jr that I had it. The infusion center told me to take Tylenol and drink two glasses of water before I come at 2:30 pm. I did that. And I have taken Tylenol afterwards and every 6 hours since for the past 9 days since. I switched from fruit juices to straight water two weeks before I decided to try Reclast. And I did take Tylenol the day before for a headache.
@sue417 I intentionally don’t usually drink electrolyte drinks because they raise my bp which is controlled by medication, but my dr did tell me on the virtual call to sip on them.
