Hi @jeanne1955. According to the Keytruda website, high blood pressure is a common side effect of Keytruda when combined with other forms of chemotherapy. I don't have experience with Keytruda but when I was receiving Rituximab infusions my BP skyrocketed and my oncologist started me BP meds...worked great to get into the normal range. When the treatments were over, the BP returned to normal w/o meds.
Have you mentioned the elevated BP to your doctor? If not, don't wait until your next appointment. Call their office soon so you can start a BP med.

1 ReactionAfter several months of immunotherapy, so far no problems.
I take keytruda infusions and a pill called laventinab. Crazy high blood pressures. Been to hospital a few times.
@loribmt yes. I have seen my drs for it. The first couple months on this treatment I had the same issue. We used BP meds. Actually more than one. Still couldn’t keep the BP in any normal range. Due to other side affects they had me take a break. The radiation I had previous to immunotherapy had weakened an area in my vertebrae and I had a compression fracture. During my break from immunotherapy they did a kyphoplasty to stabilize and help with pain. The next day I had a heart attack. I just restarted immunotherapy and almost immediately my BP went up very high and I went to emergency room. Now I have both oncology and cardiology trying to decide what meds to add. I’m already on BP lowering heart meds. I mostly wanted to hear how others on laventinab are handling the side affect of high BP. Thank you for responding. Hoping to hear from cardiology today.

1 ReactionMy blood pressure went o high on Avastin (bevacizumab) that I was in the ER several times. I started taking my bp twice a day and sending the results to the oncology department where they were supposed to be treating me. At first the nurses told me to send this info to my cardiologist, which I did, but I didn't top sending the numbers to my oncologist. Finally she called me and took me off Avastin. I was being treated for stage 3 ovarian cancer -- which returned after five years in remission. I have been in "remission" ( don't know if that word is useful anymore) for almost two years now, but my CA 125 is starting to climb and I'm having a CT Scan this week. Avastin is a useful drug for those who can tolerate it. I hope your cancer team is listening to you and paying attention to what you're going through.
