Studies on Covid 19 vaccine causing PMR

Anyone familiar with ongoing studies on the COVID-19 vaccine as a possible cause of PMR?
I understand there are such studies.
Since one possible cause of PMR is believed to be a viral infection, could you trigger one by getting a vaccination? The many vaccine skeptics certainly warned us about possibilities like this.

I am convinced mine was caused by the vaccine. I had a reaction to the second shot and 2 weeks later PMR. But damage was done for whatever caused it, so I didnt follow the long covid trail.

I must say that when I let myself think about that, I quickly bring to mind that there were an excess number of deaths attributed to COVID. Pick your poison. I don't regret being vaccinated. I do believe that it was truly a pandemic and we were fortunate that a vaccine was developed so soon. Call me a guinea pig, but I guess I'm OK with that as a Senior with high blood pressure and cholesterol.

I had the vaccine when it first came out and the next two versions. I had no side effects. The covid vaccine is not a live vaccine. It's possible that the vaccine affected some people to over trigger their immune system but that would be difficult to prove and I don't trust some of these anti vaccine group sponsored studies. Studies that begin with an agenda usually find a way to support their agenda. I do believe that the covid virus can be a factor in PMR and many other inflammatory or autoimmune disorders. I had covid for the second time last June. I had vertigo issues in July and August. I was told that a virus is considered the trigger. I then started what I now know are PMR symptoms in September/October. Viruses can be the trigger for many health issues, and I believe covid was the trigger for mine.

I think we should be cautious when attributing vaccines as a cause for PMR. There's lots of variables that can contribute to autoimmune conditions. One big one is an aging immune system. Other risk factors for PMR are genetics (people from Northern Europe decent), being female, and age as already mentioned. My rheumatologist asked me if anything in particular that was stressful happened prior to my diagnosis of PMR. There were some family difficulties, death of a beloved pet and or course the state of the world right now. I'm not saying it couldn't happen, but we just don't know it vaccines play a part in PMR.

I do not believe that me contracting PMR after my second Pfyzer vaccine was coincidental. There is a much longer thread on this subject that you can find here: https://connect.mayoclinic.org/discussion/classic-pmr-symptoms-but/

@kjoed53 I agree, our daughter had a cardiac arrest and now is in a care facility with permanent brain damage. We are in our 80s and this has been devastating. When I first went to see my rheumy the first thing he asked me was whether I'd been experiencing any stressful events prior to the onset. So the experts must be thinking about this as well. He did admit also that thus far no one has figured out where the PMR comes from.

My neighbor is a nurse with the VA. When I told him last fall I was considering not getting any more Covid shots, he asked me how many I'd had thus far. I said I thought maybe 4. He said, don't get any more. He said in about 10 years there's going to be a major study come out that will report devastating news about the vaccine. His words, "It's going to be bad."
