I am dealing with chronic pain for 1 1/2 years from Abdomenal adhesion

Posted by hmburk @hmburk, Apr 9, 2025

Does anyone with Abdomenal adhesions found successful treatments. I have tried physical therapy, chiropractors, exercises , stretches, dry needling, pulsed magnetic therapy and now injections in SI joint and facet nerve block ( mainly to rule out both) and Miralax. PT helped more than anything and cold packs which mainly allows me to not feel the pain. My biggest symptom is pain with sitting with 6-7/10 pain.

@annieisezu812 I don't know what that is. I'm new to making posts on here. I just happened upon where I posted about my pain, but as far as I can tell, there wasn't any notice to me that you responded. How do I find responses. Thanks to you for responding. I will look that up.

@dinahj Hello, Dinah. I had a similar issue with receiving messages from this Mayo group. The replies were going to my Junk mail folder, and they had all types of numbers and letters that made the mail look like Spam/Junk. I started checking them over this past weekend, and they are actually messages from the Mayo group. If you have not checked, I would look in your Spam/Junk folder to see if they have gone there.

I've had multiple abdominal surgeries and about every ten years I have surgery to release adhesions from the surgeries. Anytime my stomach starts hurting, I fear obstruction or adhesions. My last adhesion release was around 3-4 years ago. After healing from the (very long) surgery, the pain was gone. Relief!

@jimhd Oh my goodness, did you pain go straight through your stomach and into your back, like a hot knife? I think I have adhesions. Was yours laparoscopic or open surgery? Thanks

@anniesezu812 Good evening, after our conversation, I started researching the myofascial release. Made an appointment with my medical Dr, and she agreed to give me several sessions with the Physical Therapist. Think maybe a massage therapist might have been better at this, but my insurance covers my P.Therapist. My doctor still thinks my problem stems from arthritis in my spine, but I reminded her I had this hurting way before back issues. Anyway, the googled article said you should do at least 3 times a week. I will try and keep you informed, that is if I don't lose these messages. I'm not too good with technology.

@dinahj Oooh thank you, what a lovely message.
I don't know that it will help but regardless anytype of massage is very good for the body and lymph drainage, which is important. I do wish you could have a dedicated myofascia specialist but its expensive. I cdnt afford it either.
One small thing that helps me, is positive thinking and living in gratitude. I read extensively and there is much data to show living in gratitude keeps our immune systems stronger and enjoying nature is vitally important. Living in so much pain I DID NOT
live in gratitude, now I try🙂🙃 People who live near trees have STRONG immune systems. God Bless you Dinah, im always here for a chat, Pls keep us 📫 ❤️❤️❤️

@anniesezu812 Good to hear back from you. My doctor wanted to go down the road of MRI, etc. Told her we've been down that road, many times. Ask her what I had to lose. Anyway she finally agreed. I saw another message today from a guy, who said he's had surgery for his Adhesions. I ask him a few questions, but don't think he's responded back yet. I believe he said the surgery recovery was painful, but good relief from pain later. Guess we shall see if PT helps. I went and talked to them prior to going to my med Dr. They said they do this on the myofascial release, so hopefully they can get me out of pain for awhile. I fixed a Shepherd pie for supper. Dang I was hurting. Talk to you later. Hopefully I don't lose your info. If I don't respond in maybe 3 weeks, maybe you can check back with me. Thanks

@anniesezu812 The doctor did radiology - probably a CT. I was in a lot of pain and have had bowel obstructions, as well as a small intestine resection and large colon removal. There ought to be a way to make organs accessible without another incision - think zipper or Velcro.

So abdominal pain that lasts very long makes me worried. I only take a small dose of Meloxicam, and avoid Nsaids other than that, because I had some peptic ulcers 10 years ago.

I don't drink alcohol, and I'm not supposed to drink carbonated drinks, but Paul did suggest in the Bible, to drink a little wine for the stomach's sake. So far I haven't tried the potion. Drinking in excess is a problem today as much as it was in the biblical days. Of course there are lots of things that we humans seem to be prone to do in excess! But I don't think I want to start making a list. I would probably lose friends. 😁
