hi, how was the sbrt treatment?
hi, please help me. just recently diagnosed with lung cancer. i have 3 days before my lobectomy, i'm planning to do sbrt instead? please give me some advice. i just don't see myself doing the surgery rightnow.
@mypinkheels25, it sounds like you are concerned about having surgery and would like to learn more about radiation. Have you talked to your cancer doctor about treatment options and if radiation is a possible option for you?

1 Reaction@debgibson and I had the same as you - and even the same dates! Radiation for breast cancer 2006 and then 2023 a tumor where there was scar tissue. I too had a bit of radiation to reduce it, successfully and now on targeted therapy which is still working well!
Good luck to you both/all!
@mypinkheels25 I just finished 5 sbrt radiations for stage 1 lung cancer....what does you doctor recommend??? have you discussed your options????

1 Reactionhi, how was it? surgery and the alternative is sbrt for me.
@mypinkheels25 Hello Pink Heels. I had SBRT radiation on my lung in June-July of 2023. There is nothing to the treatments....felt no different than having a cat scan. I have had follow up care up until today when I saw my radioligist. Now I will need nothing further for a year!
I did expereince side effects about a year and a half later. I had two ribs the 6th and 7th fracture. That was no fun, but even if I had to go through the same again, I would not fear it because there is nothing to fear concerning the treatments. At least there was none for me.
I really don't know what your full situation is, so I am just sharing what I went through with the SBRT radiation.
hi, how was the sbrt treatment for you?
@mypinkheels25 I'm three weeks out from the 5 treatments..It was just fine....the treatments themselves were not painful maybe a little uncomfortable because you have to stay still and hold your breath at times...Not that long...The lungs move so they ask you to hold your breath..It was much better than I expected...As far as afterwards, side effects are cumulative and can present later..The radiation continues working for months...So far so good..I have a ct scan with contrast scheduled for June and then we will see... good luck to you.......
ps I could not have the surgery because of lung scar tissue and prior surgery..had lung cancer 31 years ago, stage 3 b inoperable..
Im extremely blessed to be here 31 years later..Wish I didn't have to deal with it again though...
