DAI, Diffuse Axonal Injury, Brain Injury

My son was in a very bad car accident and has suffered traumatic brain injury classified as DAI. I struggle to find good information and ideas for advanced treatments. Can anyone on Mayo Connect help point me to resources to understand DAI?

Hi, @beachbum - I'm terribly sorry to hear about your son's very bad car accident. I can only imagine that would be extremely hard on me if that happened with one of our sons.

You asked about information on diffuse axonal injury. Here is some helpful information from The Brain Injury Association of America:

How long ago was his accident? What is occurring right now with his treatment?

@lisalucier He has been asleep since the accident for about 9 weeks since the accident and is in Rehab being treated with Amantadine.
