XLIF surgery: Looking for surgeon recommendations at Mayo Clinic

Posted by jarcher057 @jarcher057, Mar 27 5:29pm

I would like to find a surgeon at Mayo who performs XLIF surgery. Can anyone provide any recommendations?

I would like a neurosurgeon who can work with spinal stenosis, degenerative disc disease and bulging discs.
If anyone can suggest one at any location, I would greatly appreciate it. I have been dealing with these conditions for 10 years. I have no health problems (high blood pressure, diabietes, high colestorol, etc. just chronic back pain with the above diagnosis.

@jarcher057 @linda6101, you can review Spine Care physicians at Mayo Clinic and sort by location here:

@linda6101 @jarcher057 I am a Mayo spine surgery patient. I had a smaller surgery for cervical spinal canal stenosis with my surgeon Dr. Jeremy Fogelson at the Rochester campus. He is excellent and also does bigger surgeries as he is a spinal deformity expert. He also is kind and compassionate. I would recommend him highly. It’s now been 10 years since my surgery and I am free of pain and have not had further spinal issues. If you want to be seen at Mayo, first check the website to see if you have insurance coverage for Mayo. It may take a long time to wait for an appointment, and you’ll need to gather imaging studies to send in with an application. At the time I applied, I was told it was a 3 month wait, but I did get in sooner because of a cancellation.

@jenniferhunter Thank you so much for the information about Mayo. It is very encouraging. If I don't hear from my neosurgeon in Chicago soon, I will be looking this doctor up. I will travel to any state to get some relief. Thanks again. Linda

@colleenyoung Thank you so much for the information on a go Mayo surgeon. I am waiting for a reply from my nurosurgeon in Chicago, but if I have to travel to another state, I would do so to get pain relief. I have been on Norco for 7 years and want to get off it. I'm a young retired 73 year old woman with no underlying conditions. All doctors that I see besides pain doctors tell me how health I am. I hate that because I have the worse health condition that anyone can have which is chronic back pain caused by spinal stenosis and digenerative disc disease. There is so much that I am missing out on in life that I still want to do. Thanks again.

Linda
