Expressing your damaged Salivary Glands
Since having radiation on my tonsil area my doctor told me that my salivary gland was going to stop working. Since ending radiation, I've noticed a large bulge on my right side below my jaw line. I attributed this to Radiation Fibrosis? It was uncomfortable and bulging. I noticed it and my Physical Therapists noticed it, but looking at me the average person probably wouldn't. I was told to massage the area to loosen the fibrosis which I did. One day, using my Hawk Grips therapeutic massage lotion, I began to squeeze and push harder than normal. It's a little uncomfortable using much more aggressive force. I then noticed my mouth began to fill with Saliva? And the bulge began to disappear? Wow? What I thought was Fibrosis turned out to be clogged saliva fluid. After I expressed to area I felt and looked much better. My neck/jaw line was close to normal. The first time I did it the Saliva tasted off and since then it has been normal tasting. My neck started moving better as a result. It took some force to do it, but I did it and it worked. So, if you have a bulge like I'm describing, it may be clogged Saliva? Try it and see yours can be drained like mine did. It's very hard at first, but it worked. I'm draining once every other day now. This info might help someone? FYI

2 ReactionsIt truly discouraging when (some) healthcare providers offer no hope to patients.
I’m very happy to hear that you were able to help yourself and added to your quality of life…& gave us other survivors a bit of hope for our own areas of concern.

1 ReactionI read a study in which Adenoviral gene transfer and Gene therapy are being looked at to repair salivary glands damaged due to radiation. I'm contacting the author of the article to see if there any thing more recent.

2 Reactions@praying4miracle It's hard to do and a little painful. I also put my chin to my chest and try that angle. It hurts a bit, but once it releases you feel your mouth fill with saliva. Hope it works.
