Does anyone have upper back pain with MAC?
I was diagnosed with MAC in Sept, '23. Have not started the BIG 3 . Had no symptoms and still do not have any cough and very little mucus. However this past January I started having pain in my upper back on the right side. Mac is in my right lung. Both my pulmo and ID Dr. don't think the pain is coming from MAC. It feels like someone pinching me really hard. Has anyone had pain in their back from MAC? Also, are airway clearance and nebulizing one in the same thing or two different procedures? Thank you so much.

Hi, no I still have not gotten an answer. I have had an endoscopy, xrays, CT scans and nothing showed up. I went to see an Orthopedic Dr. a month ago and having an MRI of the shoulder and back on March 31st. The pain subsides and then intensifies after I eat. I think it's gastro related and it just doesn't show up in any tests that I've had. It's frustrating and I'm still not on any medication for MAC. Don't really have any serious symptoms. Hope your Dad gets some answers.
I get shoulder and back pain that occurs as the MAC kicks up. Plus jaw facial pain same side. during the flare ups, chest circumference increases along with abdominal pain and swelling. They say not related. But had 1 doc say he saw face pain in a pt with 1 nodule prior. Some relief with sleep with arms over head. PT gave stretches recently. Added the vest treatment and now able to cough up mucus finally. Added vest has helped me. We see a relation between the pain swelling as MAC flares at home, but doctors say not related. Just added 7% saline. The 3% did not help me cough up or clear, just had sore throat.
