Spinal stenosis: nothing's worked, surgery proposed. Advice?

Posted by Marisol @marisols, Mar 23 5:25am

I was diagnosed with spinal stenosis around 2 years ago. Now it has transferred to my arm having canal stenosis. I have tried everything. All types of medications, creams, physical therapy, acupuncture and nothing has worked. They want to do surgery which does not guarantee me getting better. The pain has gotten worse. Anyone going through this and may give me advice on what they do? Thank you.

I also have severe spinal stenosis. Try Gokhale Primal Posture Method before resorting to surgery.

I have had a diagnosis of severe spinal stenosis since 2018. It has gotten progressively worse over time. I've had PT numerous times, anti-inflammatories, pain meds, etc. The time has come that I will have to have surgery. I'm hoping to be a candidate for the TOPS procedure. If you can get by with a laminectomy only, it has help lots of people. I will need a fusion or the TOPS because I also have a slipped disc. Good luck with whatever you choose.

Look into minimally invasive endoscopic spine surgery.
I’m considering this vs laminectomy or fusion.
It’s less invasive .
I’m fortunate to live near BJC in St Louis who offers this.

@marietter I’m having a 2-level endoscopic laminectomy on April 15; find a Johns Hopkins neurosurgeon.

@marietter - you're correct that endoscopic laminectomy and laminectomy are two different procedures. I see that you have uploaded a summary from an AI tool. AI can be very useful to help with searching for information. However, it can sometimes be wrong, so it is preferable to cite original sources.

Here's some information about laminectomy options from Mayo Clinic:
