Stage 2. Radiation starts on Thursday. I will know more after that. When radiation is over, my MD will start me on hormone treatment for 10 years as my estrogen level was 97%. I am 75. My tumors on the right were 9 cm, 6 cm, and 6 cm. and growing at 18% in 3 weeks. But my bra size went from a C cup to an A cup in three months. My tumors on the left were little...9mm, 6mm, and 2 mm. My bra size went from a C to a B on that side in about the same time frame. I am used to playing tennis, bocci, tap dancing, exercising every day, balance class, etc.....now I am not allowed to do any of that as I am still healing. I hurt, hurt, hurt. My sister found something about PMPS but I think it is too early to diagnose that; the MD report has erythema on it....I am red/blue and really gross looking (I finally looked!). My belly is protruding. I just have to get use to this new body I guess. I am usually a very positive person, but I am struggling because of the pain. I am sure part of this is fear. Thanks for listening. Smiles.

My heart goes out to you. I can imagine the pain , stress and restricted activities that you previously enjoyed are difficult and stressful.

I experienced pain following my treatment as well.

Have you scheduled appointments with your hospital’s Pain MD yet? Your MD should be able to provide a referral and advise as to when you will be able to resume your sports or athletic activities!

I have found CBD ( without THC) to be helpful for pain. Although hospital MDs may not recommend CBD as it is not well researched.

The MD who performed surgery should be able to refer you to your hospital’s Psychologists, social workers and Psychiayrists in order to assist with Stress , Fear etc. Stress

Have you considered hospital based Dieticuan appointment or teleconference? Hospital based Dietitians are available in order to enhance your meal planning and plan health diet. The hospital Dietician I met with ( teleconference call) was helpful . Interestingly, she advised that • “Kind Bars” ( nots, chocolate, etc) promote fiber and Microbiome health in lieu of chocolate bars. She mentioned that ANY Alcoholic beverage is carcinogenic. I have minimized wine at parties, social events and dates….

I hope your MD refers you to
A hospital Pain specialist as a priority. No one should suffer with Pain. I hope this is helpful .

Best,

F

Completed radiation in November 2020.
It was a couple years before I felt a little like my old self.
Done with anastrozole in December 2025.
Day by day, life is returning to normal.
But that dark cloud lurks in the background. When friend have reoccurring cancer, I know that’s a possibility for me too.
So I treasure the good days.
My wish for all of you is that the day comes when you haven’t had one thought that you ever had cancer.
That sounds insane but that day will come and you’ll be so relieved and know you are healing!

Hi
May I ask what age you are? I was diagnosed September 2023. First surgery
was in December 2023. Second surgery for lymph nodes was in February 2024
and then radiation was in March end of March until April 2nd 2 weeks of
double hits. The doctor said I could have four weeks 20 rounds single or 10
days double hits. As I had to go out of town for this an hour away I chose
10 days I stayed at a hotel which was covered by the Cancer society I live
in Canada had to pay $33 a day which was nothing and it was three meals
very nice place. I was exactly one year with horrid fatigue but once I was
able to start exercising it lessened but I still feel an underlying
fatigue.

I was 65 when first diagnosed in 2020.
I too lived more than 50 miles from my treatment center. They gave me 16 radiation treatments in 16 days. I guess they thought if it was drawn out with a lesser dose, that I would not complete it.
It was rough. My skin was raw by the end.
My sister had the same dose but hers was over two months time! She had no problems.

I'm sorry your skin was raw I hear so many women talk about that and I was so lucky I did not burn at all. I don't know if it was the cream they told me to get that I was putting on it but I never burned now my breast is just as hard as a rock and it's like half the size of my other one but at least I have it. I oncologist told me that the radiation makes the skin so tight that's why it feels hard.
