Alternative to Anxiety Medication: Anyone try Alpha-Stim?
This is not a sales pitch.
I grew up with ADHD and have severe anxiety. Recently, having breast cancer and managing alone, my anxiety became overwhelming. I looked into medications however my therapist suggested a device called an Alpha Stim. Skeptical at first, tried it and the effects are amazing. It can only be purchased with a prescription.
I use the Alpha Stim daily, it helps with anxiety and insomnia. Medication are better but there are alternatives.
Curious to hear experiences with alternate treatments.

I started recently with neurofeedback. This with the Alpha Stim could be effective. I did the feedback because of cognitive decline due to chemo effects and Tamoxifen. I also have ADHD, anxiety and PTSD. And I do not want to take medication but use alternative methods.
Perhaps you could find someone who does Functional Medicine or is a really good naturpath.
Benzos and not the way to go. In four weeks one becomes dependent, could develop a tolerance, have rebound and have to go through a tapering off. Yoo are wise to stay away from meds, based on my experience.

1 ReactionThanks for sharing your experience with Alpha-Stim. I’m looking into it now because it seems like it could help with several conditions. I’m glad it has worked for you.
Like most social media sites, there is a lot of anti-medication talk here. I would never force meds onto anyone. Personally, I resisted them for years and still hate taking them. However I am always trying to frame it as a personal choice that should be made in partnership with your doctor, and not follow blanket advice to stay away from all meds.
One natural supplement that had helped my anxiety is a lavender extract sold in the UK as a prescription called Silexan. There is good data comparing it against prescription anxiolytics and it performs just as good or better. A reputable brand in the US has purchased the patented manufacturer’s formulation so it’s exactly the same stuff, it is called Calm Aid. Essentially no side effects and certainly with a shot if you are open to supplements.
Again thank you for the info on Alpha-Stim. My insurance won’t cover it but I may consider paying out of pocket if I can get a prescription for it.
Best wishes

3 Reactions@ashleyharris728 please keep us posted. Even though it’s a huge expense, if it helps with anxiety, it’s definitely worth it.
