Has anyone been diagnosed with Meningioma with edema?

Posted by as72 @as72, Dec 4, 2025

Had MRI two days ago and found 1.8 cm meningioma Met with internist today, said this is what they call a “mass affect” which is causing the brain to shift off center. If it was just a small 1.8 cm they would do a wait and see approach, but due to the swelling they will probably want to do surgery. Scheduled two appointments with neurosurgeons, one next week and week after at Cedar Sinai for two opinions. Still getting headaches. Because there are neurological symptoms my guess is they will want to do surgery. Frightening!

@tprewitt67 I have edema as well and 2.7 cm left anterior frontal lobe. I’m still getting head pressure like headaches. MRI next week. When and where are you having surgery? Wishing you the best. Keep in touch if possible.

@as72 I just had my surgery please watch this and I don’t know if they can see all on mri. Mine was over 3.5 cm and it has already got in my brain and blood vessels and bone. Don’t put this off!! It could have killed me truly a miracle from God!! Already had surgery and I’m walking well and ssoing great. Praise God no stuttering like they thought at first. I get to go home tomorrow praise God! Please don’t let this go sending love and prayers! I never had hardly any headaches with this I had had one seizure after I was told had meginoma and they never told me. I thought it was from my muscle relaxer I ran out odd. Never had a seizure any more.

@tprewitt67 thank you so much for your response. Glad to hear you are doing well. Hope they got all of it. Will you need radiation? Where did you have the surgery done? My mri is Tuesday. I’m going to ucsf. I will pray for a quick recovery for you. Please keep in touch.

Hi, replying to both comments above. The surgery was a craniotomy with gross total resection, meaning a section of skull was removed and replaced to get at the tumor. The tumor location was in the forehead area, so the incision was made above the hairline to avoid scarring of the forehead. A nerve supplying sensation to the top of the head was cut. A year after surgery I still have diminished sensation at the crown of the head. The prospect of brain surgery is no doubt frightening. Hopefully the surgeon is walking you through the procedure. Good luck with the MRI. I had adjuvant radiation treatment a few months after surgery and I have the first post radiation MRI in 10 days.

I had the MRI 2 days ago. No signs of recurrence. So I’m in the clear, for now.
