Spinal Block How Long Did it Last or Worked

Posted by grovermyson @grovermyson, Mar 20 5:29am

I’m scheduled for a total knee replacement, and my assessment plan says I’ll be getting “spinal anesthetic with an adductor canal block and an iPACK block.”
I’m not entirely sure what all of that means, so I wanted to ask those of you who’ve had TKR: How long did your nerve blocks last, and did they work well for you?
I’m a little nervous because when I had rotator cuff surgery, the nerve block they did in my neck didn’t work at all. I woke up in incredible pain, so I’m hoping this experience will be different.
Any feedback on how effective your blocks were would be really helpful

Have you spoken to a member of the surgical team about your experience and concerns? If it were me that would be my first step.

@gravity3 Yes, that’s coming up. I’m just curious to hear about everyone’s first‑hand experiences.

I had two blocks. The spinal block wore off on day two with no drama. The nerve block wore off during night two with incredible pain. I took one Oct and felt better right away. After that my pain meds were enough so I didn’t need any more oxy. Credit my low pain levels to Journavx. It is a new non opioid pain killer that worked great for me. My doctor had not heard of it before but I got the info from a friend who had a recent tka who said he worked for him too. I highly recommend Journavx for low pain levels after surgery! Good luck!
