RLS coming off DA and trazadone-sleep issues
7 weeks ago I came off a low dose long term DA drug due to augmentation in 3 days.
Also stopped traz low dose long term in a week as it was not helping my sleep.
Dr.started gabapentin prior to stopping DA a few days and did not warn me the effects of stopping these 2 drugs and what a nightmare it was. Fortunately RLS is under control however not sleeping more than 2-3 hours and Dr prescribes clonazepam and it’s not working.
Had iron panel done and it’s not bad taking oral iron and magnesium glycinate
Does dopamine take long to build back up?
Any feedback would be appreciated

If you want a med for sleep that works, try Lorazepam. If your doctor is willing to give you clonazepam, he/she should have no problem giving you Lorazepam. It works. Good luck.

Hi, just joined for my incredibly bad RLS, now in augmentation for the second time in something like 40 (?) years (I’m 75). I’m enjoying your comments here very much. I don’t see where I might have written privately, so I’ll just say I think you meant to use the word “antagonist” here. “Naltrexone and naloxone are both opioid agonists--they block opioid receptors.”
Thanks for your help!
@rjjb
Yes, so have I, for years now. But I’ve now got a bad case of augmentation with Pramipexole which, I’ve learned, could very well preclude me from benefiting from the new medication management choice of drugs. I wish I had been following this more closely. I’ll be seeing the neurologist I see for another condition next week and will see if they have a specialist in the group. If not, I’ll request an appointment with my old neuro/psych/sleep specialist who first started with me on this RLS journey many years ago.
@teaandcrumpets Hi teaandcrumpets,
You are absolutely correct and I thank you for pointing out my error. I try to proofread because my brain and my typing fingers often express totally different ideas. Sometimes it is auto-corrects fault, but this time I just mis-typed and then didn't catch it.
I am going to message you privately and tell you how this is done. (I have to pay attention to the steps as I do it---I don't recall without seeing it.)
I'm sorry to hear of your difficulties with augmentation. I'm glad you have joined this forum.
@missjb
You’re welcome, and thanks for taking my comment so kindly. I look forward to your private message and will watch out for it. Thanks!
