“Thunderclap” Migraines
I recently started getting thunderclap migraines, only on the right side of my head. I’ve felt it on my left side once, but right side has been consistent for the last 5 days. I went to the ER yesterday… CT (no dye) came back normal and same with blood work. I’m used to migraines but new to this “electric shock” feeling in my head. Today is the 6th day I’m dealing with them.
I have discrepancies to my C3 and T6-T7 if that possibly correlates. Any suggestions?

I am so sorry I am a migraine suffer as well. I am in a suburb of Dallas, TX and we are having a strange weather day. The high was 87 and a weird weather front is moving in. The wind is so strong it has knocked out numerous power lines. I am 78 and made a big pot of sausage and Tortellini with the intention of taking it to my daughter’s home and the granddaughters were coming as well. But my migraine is so bad I don’t think I can drive in this wind. So disappointing.
I am so sorry for your migraine experience. When I was younger I thought there would be a cure… there have been many new medications but they don’t really work. 😔

With that type of severe headache suddenly appearing I advice you to contact your doctor. You might need imaging since there was a change in intensity.

Glad to see you've connected with @gloaming @bernieboy @patsycox76o @astaingegerdm.
purple26 - have you had the chance to speak to your doctor's office by phone or by portal message to report this sudden onset severe headache yesterday? If so, what was the response?

1 Reaction@lisalucier Yes, I decided to go in, its what I would tell people to do. Getting a head scan on Wed, had I still had symptoms it would be sooner. I just have a lingering mild headache.

1 ReactionThe headache was so severe and very alarming though. It was worse than any really bad migraine I've had.

1 Reaction@purple26 I understand, and with your history of migraines you may have just thought it was going to be a time to tough it out. However, the unusual nature might be a sign of a change, of a progression of sorts, or it might not be a migraine at all. Best to be sure, and maybe learn of newest meds or techniques to bust the worst kinds if it was a migraine. You may learn of a new 'tool'.

1 Reaction@patsycox76o I agree the change in barometer pressure/weather definitely impacts headaches also. I have learned also that alot of relatives on my moms side deal with headaches. Genetic?
@gloaming I hope so. I thought I was doing great controlling them. I got my use of OTC analgesics way down compared to a few years ago.
