Where to find support for FTM (female-to-male) transition?

Looking for FTM support as I transition later in life. Also, looking for information on how easy/ hard to get letters to support top surgery.

I began my MTF transition at 68, I met with a psychologist for about six months. During that time period, we discussed the alternatives available and she drafted the letter that was required by my surgical team at the University of Michigan. Only one letter was required. From that point forward, it was all a waiting game. It took approximately 18 months from the time the letter was submitted to the actual surgery.

I am 44 ftm trans man? Only been on hrt just under two years, where I live I would need two letters for surgery either top or bottom. My gender care has either been at Mayo or a University. My mental and physical health has been pretty poor so I am still waiting for my second letter. Though even with a frustrating wait I have to accept for myself that surgery wouldn’t be easy for me currently. Do i sometimes wish I had cash for top surgery cuz that’s where a lot of dysphoria is attached to for me of course I wish I could pay outta pocket but I can’t. Also not being able to even be put on surgery list prior to getting letters is hard to accept as well cuz the waitlists are so long after receiving letters. From what I have been told physical health needs to be within limits to recover without other physical conditions being acute or not undergoing treatment and kinda the same for mental health. If you’re receiving treatment from what i’ve been told and symptoms are moving in the right direction than you should qualify for letter. Some states or providers have different requirements for letter writing regarding length of time on hrt or timeline of physical and social transition; living or presenting in desired gender outcomes. IDK if this helps at all. The only other thing can share is given I took so long to accept myself and age my response to hrt has been slow and i might not get same degree of change from testosterone or will take longer to achieve my desired goals. Hopefully parts of this were helpful.
